We’re excited to offer a brilliant opportunity for an Electrical Controls Engineer based at our Great Yarmouth facility working within the Defence side of our business; Hayley Dirs.

About the role:

The Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, development of electrical control and safety systems, forming part of our Digital Industrial Digital Radiography Systems.

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day control, co-ordination and running of electrical design, production and development within the Systems team. You’ll also overall control of CAD draughting facilities.

During a typical day you could be leading design work, costing specifications and providing technical support to the sales team. There will also be occasions where you will provide off-site support as well.

The ideal candidate will have excellent project management skills along ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders and departments including Electronics, Mechanical and Software.

You’ll bring a continuous improvement mindset, experience as an electrical design and development engineer as well being an experienced CAD user and high level of computer literacy.

What we’re looking for in our Electrical Controls Engineer

  • Excellent project management skills
  • Educated to degree level in electrical engineering or equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills capable of dealing with staff from general hands, up to senior management level.
  • Capable of developing original concepts based on current state of the art technology.
  • High level of computer literacy, familiar with Microsoft Office.
  • Experienced user of development CAD package.
  • Capable of producing comprehensive design/product documentation including schematics, specifications and manuals.
  • Good knowledge of all aspects of analogue and digital signal processing technology.
  • Knowledge of relevant machinery and electrical safety standards.
  • Familiar with firmware and software generation.
  • Familiar with industry standards and general ISO9001 quality requirements.
  • Strategic and analytical thinker.
  • Understand the requirements for inherently safe/failsafe design.
